Meet Dr. Laura LukE

 

Dr. Laura Luke is a board-certified pediatrician with more than two decades of experience caring for children and families.  After graduating from Father Lopez High School, she went on to attend Salem College in North Carolina.  She earned her medical degree from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in 2003. She then completed her pediatric residency at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine (now Prisma Health) in Greenville.

 

Throughout her career, Dr. Luke has practiced in a variety of medical settings, including outpatient offices, urgent care facilities, children's hospitals, and online via telemedicine. She has been fortunate enough to serve not only in the United States but in Central America as well.  Dr. Luke and her family lived in Central America for five years during which time she took care of children suffering from severe malnourishment, those with special and complex medical needs, and those with little to no resources and access to care.  She counts this time among the greatest privileges of her life and career.  Dr. Luke's breadth of experience has shaped her calm, confident approach and her ability to care for children across the full spectrum of pediatric medicine.

 

Dr. Luke returned to her hometown of Ormond Beach in 2023.  She loves her community and is committed to providing high-quality care for its youngest residents. Sunlight Pediatrics was born out of her desire to bring excellent, compassionate care directly to families, at their convenience and in the comfort of their own homes.

Dr. Luke and her husband, Mike, have been happily married for over 26 years.  Mike is an Ormond Beach native and works for NASCAR.  They have five amazing daughters, three in college and two in high school.  Dr. Luke loves spending time with family and friends, reading, going to the beach, and attending any kind of theatre.  

 

 

A Different Kind of Pediatric Care

 

Sunlight Pediatrics was created in response to a growing need Dr. Luke saw over years of practice - the need for unhurried, relationship-based care without the stress of crowded waiting rooms, long delays, or rushed appointments. Rather than operating from a traditional office, Dr. Luke provides personalized in-home pediatric visits, allowing her to truly meet families where they are.

 

This model allows children to feel safe and relaxed in familiar surroundings, gives parents time to ask questions, and enables Dr. Luke to get to know families better.  Whether it’s a newborn visit, well child check, sick visit, or a follow-up appointment, her focus is always on thoughtful, attentive medicine.

At the heart of Dr. Luke’s practice is a deep commitment to walking alongside families through every season of childhood. She believes great pediatric care is not just about diagnosing and treating - it’s about listening, partnering, and educating.

 

Parents often describe Dr. Luke as steady, kind, and deeply present. She treats every child with dignity and gentleness, recognizes the primary role of parents in managing their child's health, and values collaboration in medical decision making.

 

Through Sunlight Pediatrics, Dr. Luke is reimagining what pediatric care can look like - slower, more personal, and centered on the well-being of the whole family.
